From my experiences, the rhizomes tend to grow horizontally, so, it would be advisable to use a wide container. I'm hoping for more rhizomes, thus I've changed to a deeper container, hoping that the extra space at the bottom will yield more rhizomes. Once the plant has established it can be very lush with large leaves and beautiful blooms.
