What's Blooming Right Now

Hi everyone, I'm back, I haven been missing in my gardening posts for almost 5 months now! Oops....hopefully I'll be able to post at least, once or twice a month. I have received some emails and a comment or two in my previous blog posts, asking when I'll be back to posting again. I have been slacking in my gardening blog posts and have not done much gardening in my potted garden lately, mostly due to the hot weather and also pure laziness. I'm planning to get back to active gardening again with whatever space I have. Thank you for your emails and your support and encouragement!

I'm planning on some changes in my garden, some plants that are not doing well need to be discarded, seeds needs to be sowed again as I have been having lots of failures in my seeds sowing lately, maybe most of them are past the expiry dates. Meanwhile, I'm sharing today, some of my potted flowering plants.

Euphorbia Milii. Bought this plant as a tiny seedling many years ago. Really easy to grow without much care at all, as it thrives really well in hot weatHer. Notice the basil  plant growing in the same pot. The Thai Basil plants seems to be popping up in most of my pots, they are everywhere.

I like the cute little flowers of the Euphorbia Milii against the green leaves and the spiky stems.

Pinkish Peach Gerbera Daisy. This is the same plant that I had back in 2010 which I have posted here. Only this peach and the yellow gerberas have "survived", while the others have all wilted and died. The yellow gerbera is not flowering right now and is not doing as well as this peach gerbera, though it is slowly coming back to 'life", keeping my fingers crossed that it would continue to do so! Am planning to get a few other colours, as this is one of my favourite flowers to grow.

I have no idea what this pretty flowers are called. The white flowers are small with small orange-yellow seed pods. Do you know the name of this plant?

 Thai Jasmine

 Water Jasmine Bonsai

Brunfelsia Australis Bentham. This plant has been in my garden for many, many years. Though it does not seem to grow much in size these few years, but it has been blooming pretty white and purple flowers very frequently.

Torenia, popping up and sharing homes with most of my pots. I called these plant, "The Busybody", it always pops in most of my garden pots, making their presence known with their cute flowers, in various shades of colours. I would usually collect them all and place them in a pot of their own.

One of the Cats Tail variety?  Not sure what it is called. It just grew in two of my pots. And have seen this plants growing by the roadsides and it is quite a common plant.

What's blooming in your garden right now?

Happy Gardening!

  1. Hi Joyce! Nice to see an update this morning! Oh, your have lovely blooms in your garden. I used to have that Euphorbia Milii plant (I just learnt the name from you today hah...hah...) but it died. I had both the pink and white variety. And those pretty white flowers, I have only seen the orange fruits. Not in my garden but somewhere else, And your Gerbera is so pretty! I bought a pot long ago at Ikea but it did not survive very long. My garden is a mess right now. Ever since the slipped disc episode last year, I have not picked up momentum. The dry weather is not helping. Your post has given me some inspiration to kick start something. But I am having back ache again due to sitting too long on a low stool last evening :(

    1. Hi Phong Hong,
E.Milli flowers are very cute and pretty, have not seen the white ones! Gerberas are my favourite flowers to grow and the strive quite well in sunny hot weather, as long as they have enough of moisture. I hope your back is getting better, take it easy during gardening. Do it in short periods of time instead of a few hours at a time. I know how it is like, sometimes when I start to garden, I got carried away and the next day, the backache is there! Thanks for stopping by my garden!

  2. Oh those white blooms, they are so lovely! Your garden must be looking really nice now. I think that's a Duranta white. In any case, it is beautiful. Your pretty torenia reminded me of those in my garden. Love to see them whenever they pop up :-) Thank you for this wonderful post. Welcome back to gardening! I am going to hop over to your other blog to see what's cooking...

  3. You have the Durantan erecta/repens with the white flowers. I have a tall bush with masses of purple flowers and dripping with fruits all over. Your flowers are lush and lovely while your photography is crisp and sharp.

  5. It has been a long time since I posted on my blog too and I'm finally visiting everyone's page. Your flowers are gorgeous! :) I'm also planning to grow most flowers in containers. I planted Thai basil from seeds and hopefully they thrive. When you have a chance, check out my updated blog. I changed the name to homegrowndelight.blogspot.com

    1. Hi Priscilla,
Thanks for stopping by! Luckily you did, as I was trying to get into your blog earlier, actually just the day before your comment, and your old domain was now used by someone else?
Glad to hear that you are back in your gardening blog. Looking forward to all your garden updates!

  6. What a nice surprise to find you in your Little Potted Garden, Joyce! I've been missing it:)

Your plants are all so delightful! I'm sorry you are having problems with your seeds. Have you tried soaking the seeds before you plant them? Sometimes I "sprout" my seeds by putting them in damp paper towels. First I soak the seeds in a paper cup and then I lay them in paper towels and keep it damp. When I see the seeds beginning to sprout, I plant them.

I am so looking forward to growing Thai Basil. I love it! I wish I knew the name of the pretty white flower plant. It escapes me at the moment. That last plant looks similar to Celosia, but I'm not sure.

Thank you so much for sharing, Joyce. I'm thinking about changing my Wordless Wednesdays to Garden Tuesdays as soon as I have some garden shares, lol...

P.S. I'm not sure if that plant I posted is a lime plant or a clementine plant. I'll be posting about how it came about on Sunday:) I just sprayed it with some garlic spray because I found just one bug on one of the leaves. I have found most bugs really dislike garlic, lol...

    1. Hi Louise,
I have been "missing" in my garden front! Hopefully I'll be able to update more often now.
thanks for the tips on the seeds, will try that.
My Thai Basil are popping up in almost every pot. Had to discard many seedlings! The pretty white flower is called Duranta, as advised by the lovely Stephanie and Elsie. Now I know! Haha!
Thanks for the info on the Celosia, I goggled for it, and it does look similar!
It would be great to see your Garden Tuesdays, Louise! You have such a big and lovely garden, and it would be lovely to see your garden updates. How I wish to have such garden space!
And looking forward to your post on your citrus plant! Thank you for stopping by!

  7. Wow Joyce! The flowers are so beautifully bloomed in your garden. I don't have a garden to grow plants. I stay in an apartment and have no space to grow plants. Love to see these beautiful plants from your garden. Thanks for posting them :D

    1. Hi Amy,
Nice to see you here! If you have a balcony, you could grow some plants in pots or containers. Try it with a few easy plants first. Thanks for stopping by!

  8. Hi Stephanie,
Thanks for the info. I have goggled for more info, and it looks closer to Celosia than the Spicata. I appreciate your info on this flower. :)
