Found it crawling up the leaf of my yam plant a few days ago.
Slowly making it's way up.
Looks like it has found a perfect spot to rest.
It stayed this way hanging down for 10 minutes.... then I have other things to do!
Found this when I was pruning some leaves at my backyard a couple of days later, did not know from which plant, it just crawls onto my kitchen counter, probably from the leaves. It is really small, only 1cm! I do not know whether this is the same one or there are more than one! Probably the same one, notice the two white cushiony "pillows" on its back, it wasn't there a couple of days earlier when I spoted it.
I find it fascinating! It looks like some small rotten wood with some blue plastic stuck to it at a glance. I have seen this creature a number of times at my backyard. Wondering what it is. Anyone knows?
Α... fairy??? (are those bleu things, wings?)
ReplyDeleteIt's fascinating, i agree!
Love from Greece!

I've seen this but without the blue 'scales'. Your photos are really cool. I'm glad you are also fascinated in this macro world. Many a times, we cannot see little details that appears in the photo.
ReplyDeleteThe bug is wearing a blue dress?
ReplyDeleteHuh! Creature from the movie 'Mimic'?
ReplyDeleteFrom the woodworks?? A rather fancy bug it is! Wonderful picture.

ReplyDeleteIt looks like a eco-concious caterpilar that is wearing clothes made from recycled material.
ReplyDeleteHi evagelia,
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by!
I really have no idea whether the blue ones are the wings! But yes, it is fascinating!
Hi One,
You are right, I only notice the white spots when I did this post!
Hi Diana,
Perhaps, it is going for a bugs party!
Hi milka,
Could be!
Hi Keats,
No idea! But it look real fancy with the blue dress, as what Diana says!
Hi Tinny,
Haha! The final transformation, I do not have the chance to see! Can't find it anywhere.
Hi Amanda
Thank you for visiting!
Hi Autumn Belle,
Hahahaha! That is a good one!
It is a bagworm. A caterpillar of a moth, and the female is flightless (never leaves the bag). They can even be found indoors, on your walls (plaster bagworm - the flat rhombus shaped brown pieces hanging on your wall paint). They add material to the front of their 'home' hence the blue plastic. Some bagworms are a major pest in oil palm plantation.
